Brief: Create a series of "how-to" style videos with CHI tools and products
Client: Ulta Beauty
Company: CHI Haircare

Duration of project: 1 mo.
Goal: Produce a series of stand-alone how-to videos that showcase the ability for women to style their hair at home with a variety of CHI tools and products.
Conditions: The model had to be sent the tools and products prior to filming to familiarize herself and study the features and benefits.
Challenges: The set design had to be aseptically pleasing but fairly easy to construct in a studio the morning of filming. Condensing the script writing to include key features and benefits of the tools and products in a manner that would not exceed 1 minute on screen. Scheduling was limited to 1 shoot day with multiple looks.
Takeaways: Communication between the marketing team and the creative director in terms of pre-production was so instrumental. Multiple scripts had to be drafted and altered the day of so as to appear more naturalistic for the talent performance. Post-production editing required 30 and 60 second versions.

Conditions: We used diffusers for the curly hair as it didn't disrupt the hair's natural wave pattern keeping the curls intact and beautiful.
Challenges: Big naturally curly hair added additional dry time.
Takeaways: Coaching from stylist to model talent on tool and product use technique was key to creating flawless hair styles.
